Autumn is a time for us to draw breath at Landmark, and lay plans for next year. A very busy September saw us open 17 Landmarks across Britain, our teams of staff and volunteers welcoming some 9500 visitors through the doors. A huge thank you to everyone who helped man this busy period and promote our buildings. We’ve now posted dates for our 2017 Open Days on the website – do have a look to see whether you’d like to help at any of them.

New volunteer posts at Shottesbrooke
We need two new volunteers to help our existing volunteer Jenny to run the Friends of Landmark supporter scheme for a day a week at our Head Office near Maidenhead. As well as managing day-to-day communications with members and administration for upcoming events, this team organises and hosts events, visits to interesting places, and Landmark house shares. Find out more about the role here.

Open Days in Plymouth and Sussex
We have two more open events for 2016. As a new initiative, Crownhill Fort, Plymouth
is taking part in Museums at Night on Friday 28 October with many of the volunteers who assist us at the fort helping out - good luck to all on the night. Click here to find out more.

And Wilmington Priory in Sussex will be open 18-22 November. With Advent just around the corner, a visiting World War II Home Front cook will be busy in the kitchen all weekend demonstrating how they created a Christmas feast 'on the ration'.  We are also delighted to welcome back volunteer singing group Byrdsong to perform a selection of traditional seasonal music – Click here for further information.

Heritage at Work at Llwyn Celyn
We’ve just held our second Heritage at Work week at Llwyn Celyn in Monmouthshire.  11 adult volunteers, 7 Young Heritage Apprentices from the Princes Foundation, and 3 students worked alongside experts on many tasks around this historic sight – read more here.

The wider Llwyn Celyn site is again playing host to the annual Llanthony and District Hedging and Walling competition on Saturday 29 October.  This great local event keeps these vital skills and traditions alive, and is open free to all – Click here to find out more – please note that there is no access to the buildings of Llwyn Celyn on this day.

Do come along to one of our last open days of the year and enjoy what’s going on, and please remember you can always email us your feedback and any images to or via social media.

Best Wishes

Caroline, Kasia and Nina
