Repairs to the front wall leaving the colourful aubretia unharmed.

Wrth i’r haf estyn ei anwesiad cynnes ar draws Mynydd Du, rydym wedi symud ymlaen yn gyflym yn Llwyn Celyn. Mae diwedd ein gorchwyl o fewn golwg bellach, a chyn bo hir bydd ein tîm o grefftwyr o IJ Preece yn rhoi eu hoffer i gadw. Maen nhw wedi bod yn dîm perffaith ac roedd yn fraint inni gael cydweithio â nhw; maen nhw wedi croesawu ymwelwyr chwilfrydig a gwirfoddolwyr brwdfrydig dirif i’r safle.

As summer stretches its wide warm arms across the Black Mountains we have been making speedy progress at Llwyn Celyn. Completion is now in sight and our team of craftsmen from IJ Preece will soon be packing up their tools. They have been a wonderful team to work with and have welcomed countless curious visitors and willing volunteers to the site.

Treftadaeth wrth ei Gwaith

Yn ystod ein hwythnos wirfoddoli diwethaf ym mis Mehefin, gwelwyd grŵp bach o wirfoddolwyr yn dychwelyd atom i roi help llaw gyda’r arddangosfeydd dehongli.  Buon nhw wrthi’n prysur ddidoli, glanhau ac edmygu’r llu o eitemau rhyfedd sydd wedi dod i’r golwg a chael eu storio yn sied y safle dros y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf.  Ymddengys bod pob un, yn gontractwyr a gweithwyr, wedi dod o hyd i ryw darn diddorol o hen haearn, potel wydr neu delchyn o grochenwaith sy’n dal sylw.  Mae’r cwestiwn o sut i arddangos yr holl drysorau hyn yn ddiogel ac yn barhaus yn Nhŷ’r Anifeiliaid yn gryn sialens. Carem ddiolch felly i’r artistiaid lleol Matt ac Amanda Caines am fwrw golwg wybodus a phrofiadol ar yr eitemau hyn i gyd gan ystyried sut i’w dangos yn drefnus.

Heritage at Work
The last of our volunteer weeks in early June saw a small group of repeat volunteers returning to help with the interpretation displays. There was much sorting, cleaning, admiring and sometimes puzzling over all the found objects that have accumulated in the site shed over the last two years. Everyone from contractors to visitors seems to have found an interesting piece of rusting iron, a glass bottle or an eye catching shard of pottery. How to display these items safely and permanently in the Beast House is a bit of a challenge and we have been aided by local artists Matt and Amanda Caines who have cast their trained eyes over all the items and their arrangement.

Y cyffyrddiadau olaf
Erys llwyth o waith i’w wneud o hyd i addasu’r Ysgubor Ddyrnu at gael ei defnyddio gan y gymuned, ond mae dodrefn yn cael eu gosod yn y tŷ neuadd canoloesol ynghyd â chegin. Mae’n amser cyffrous, ac mae’r cyffro’n cynyddu bob tro y cawn ni gip ar wahanol ddodrefn yn cael eu cludo i mewn i’r adeilad gan ein tîm dodrefnu. Bydd golwg derfynol y lle’n aros yn gyfrinach tan ddiwrnod hirddisgwyliedig y dadorchuddio yn yr hydref.

Finishing Touches

There is still lots of work to be done in the Threshing Barn to make it suitable for community use, but the old medieval hall house is now being furnished and fitted out with a kitchen. This is an exciting time. Anticipation builds as we see glimpses of furniture being carried into the building by our in-house Furnishing team. The final result will remain a secret until the grand unveiling in the autumn.

Diwrnodau Agored
